Discover talents: Girls‘ and Boys’ Day 2025 at SIKA

How does a thermometer work? What does accounting actually do in an industrial company? And how is a 3D model created on a computer? These and many other questions were answered by eleven pupils at this year's Girls‘ and Boys’ Day 2025 at the beginning of April at SIKA Dr. Siebert & Kühn GmbH & Co. KG in Kaufungen – and get a taste of the real world of work.

A look into practice – with heart and hand

After a welcome from Managing Director Mathias Schuster and a brief introduction to the company and its products, the young people went straight into practice.

The five girls went through four varied stations: In thermometer production they assembled their own measuring device, in electronics they soldered a solar glass, in the training workshop they screwed together a model car and in research and development they created a customised picture frame on the PC, which later took shape in the 3D printer.

Discovering departments – a rally through the administration

The six boys also had an exciting day: on a specially prepared rally through the administration building, they learnt about the work in the HR, Financial Accounting, Purchasing and Order Management departments – hands-on, in direct contact with employees and with a look behind the scenes at SIKA.

Discover early what will be fun later

“Girls‘ and Boys’ Day is a great opportunity for us to show young people how diverse and exciting an industrial company can be,” say the training managers at SIKA. “Many of the pupils already have a great deal of interest and talent – insights like these can provide the decisive impetus for their professional future.”

The nationwide day of action is intended to help young people familiarise themselves with professions that they often do not see in traditional role models – and to open up new perspectives for their personal and professional development.

SIKA offers many opportunities for those who want to delve deeper: from traditional apprenticeships and dual study programmes to internships or student traineeships. All information is available at: https://karriere.sika.net/
