SIKA - Precision Bimetal Dial Thermometers
Design and function
The basis of the SIKA Bimetal Dial Thermometers is a robust and proven bimetallic spiral.
The choice of an appropriate measuring and display range, along with the correct immersion length and materials, make this instrument ideal for any apllication ranging from heat technology to the chemical industry.
The SIKA bimetal indicator thermometer works on the following principle:
The measuring component consists of a bemetallic spiral, which is in the turn made of two different alloy strips that have been joint together by pressure.
The differing thermal expansion coefficients of the two alloys cause the spiral to deform whenever it is subjectto a change in temperature and this deformation is converted into a twisting movement.
The bimetallic spiral is located in the lower part of the sensor.
In thermometers with a back entry bulb the spiral acts directly on the dial pointer. Thermometers with a bottom entry bulb on the other hand, are fitted with a flexible spindle between the spiral and the pointer, which transmits the movement of the spiral.
SIKA Bimetal Dial Thermometers are available with graduation ranges of -70 °C to +500 °C and quality as DIN 16203 class 1 devices.
